PP Grip
The PP Grip is equipped with hinges for easy and fast installation and removal while giving the cable the best protection against over bending. Typical use is attachment points for floatation, inner lead ins, spreader ropes, gun umbilical's as attachment to diverters or lead ins. To achieve good friction and compression over the cable, nylon or steel bands are used.
Ovuns designs and manufactures PP Grip, a high quality handling product for seismic survey towed cables with the main function to protect from over-bending, ensuring safe deployment during exploration.
PP grip consists of two half shells assembled with steel bands to achieve sufficient compression and friction to the cable. In addition, it comprises tongues and grooves to prevent movement between the two polyurethane shells and increase friction with the core product.
PP grip is supplied with an integrated clamp with one or several connection points.
Applications:
- Seismic survey towed cables
- Inner lead ins spreader ropes
- Gun umbilicals as attachment to diverters
- Attachment points for floatation
- Protecting cables when floats are attached at certain points along a heavy tow cable
Benefits:
- Conical shape providing gradual increases in the overall stiffness to cables
- Provides uniform grip over entire length
- Safe attachment of moderate load diverters and two points to armored or sheathed cables
- Split design equipped with fibre hinges allowing easy & fast installation and removal
- Produced from high grade polyurethane, a lightweight material with extreme durability
