Ovun Bend Stiffeners are designed to add stiffness at the termination points of flexible pipes, power cables, umbilicals thus limiting bending stresses and curvature to an acceptable level.
Bend stiffeners are usually attached at either the topside or subsea connection.
The conical shape provides gradual increases in the overall stiffness to cables. In static applications, bend stiffeners will provide protection against overbending during installation. In dynamic applications, with sufficient fatigue resistance, the bend stiffeners will control a cables’ in-service bend and sustain the cyclic loads to the end of specified life.
- Made from high grade polyurethane material.
- Conically shaped with a cylindrical bore that slips over the core product.
- Can be produced in one-piece or two-part split design.
Interface Options
Ovun can supply a steel interface structure molded into the base of the conical section with the main function to transfer loads out of the polyurethane section of the Bend Stiffener.
This component can be supplied with an integrated threaded flange, external bolt flange, internal threads and more.
Usually when made of high strength structural grade carbon steel, an adjacent cathodic protection system is used to protect against corrosion during operation. Alternatively , corrosion resistant materials such as Super duplex can be supplied upon request.
